August #2

RJR Tabling at Festival

It has been a hot August! But RJR has been out and about. We tabled at the 9th Annual Pocumtuck Homelands Festival. Teegray taught visitors about the fruits of racial justice using an interactive poster.

“This festival brings us back to our roots and the original people who inhabited the area,” commented festival volunteer Jeff Carroll in The Recorder.

The Pocumtuck Festival is in part dedicated to righting the past wrong of the massacre of 300 indigenous peoples by white settlers in the place now named by the leader of the killers, William Turner in the May 19, 1676 “Battle of Peskeomskut”.
